Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ayman Al Safadi warned Saturday that the Israeli war raging on the Gaza Strip for the eighth day in a row is causing a humanitarian catastrophe, represents collective punishment of more than two million Palestinians, and is pushing the entire region towards the abyss.

Al Safadi said in a press statement that the failure of the international community to stop the war is a failure to implement international law, protect common human values and protect innocent civilians, who face war, and cannot find shelter, food, or hospitals for their children and wounded.

Al Safadi stressed that the silence over the war and destruction that the people of Gaza are subjected to is silence over an aggression that strips Gazans of their humanity and their right to protection, and silence over Israel's flagrant violations of international law.

He called on the international community to deal with the war on the Gaza Strip according to one criteria, stressing that Palestinian civilians are no less human than Israeli civilians.

Al Safadi considered that the Israeli occupations prevention of humanitarian aid from entering Gaza, and its pressure on more than a million Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip to leave their homes, represents a flagrant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, and the law of war.

He affirmed Jordan's position of rejecting the displacement of Palestinians from their homeland, warning that the Israeli entity's attempt to impose this will push the entire region towards an abyss of deepening and expanding escalation and conflict.

UN and international calls to the Israeli entity did not succeed in stopping its raging war in the Gaza Strip, which affected the humanitarian situation in light of the cutting off of water, electricity and food supplies and not allowing any aid to enter the Strip, amid the death toll rising to 1,900 martyrs.

UN agencies expect that the besieged residents of Gaza will face unimaginable suffering in the coming days, at a time when the devastating Israeli bombing continues to stop. (QNA)
