Hundreds of Qatar residents from different nationalities came together at two locations Friday in solidarity with the people of Palestine, stressing their stand with them against the ongoing unjust aggression of the occupation forces of Israel.
The first gathering was after the Friday prayers at the State Grand Mosque Imam Muhammad ibn Abdulwahab. with many waving the Palestinian flag, wishing long life to Palestine and its people while others were seen wearing the distinctive chequered black and white Palestinian scarf (keffiyeh).
The people shouted various slogans in support of the rights of the Palestinian people to defend their territories and lives and condemning the brutal attacks of the occupation forces that undermine the very right of existence of these people. The second pro-Palestine gathering was in the evening at the open grounds of Katara - the Cultural Village.
Many people across Qatar stressed their solidarity with the Palestinian people and their lawful rights to defend themselves and reclaim their country. Over the past few days, the situation in the Gaza Strip continues to escalate with many casualties among the civilians due to the Israeli aggressive attacks worsening humanitarian conditions of the Palestinians.
The occupation forces claim that the attacks initiated by Hamas against the settlers were unprovoked and cannot be justified. However, the issue goes deep back to a long history of oppression and inhumane treatment of the Palestinian people that deprived them of their basic rights, aiming at obliterate their identity and stripping them of their rightful territories and history. Such attacks are the outcome of decades of unjust practices of the occupation forces that have been persisting on denying these people their basic right to maintain their independent existence and defend their life, land and identity. The attacks of Hamas are considered a reaction and response to a long history of aggression by Israel against the Palestinian people.
Qatar has always supported the Palestinian people and called for a peaceful resolve of these issues to maintain stability and security in the region. Qatar’s steadfast support for the Palestinians, especially those in the Gaza Strip, serves as a vital sustenance during times of crisis. Through humanitarian aid, financial support, infrastructure development, and diplomatic efforts, Qatar plays a crucial role in addressing the pressing challenges faced by the Palestinian people and advancing the prospects for peace in the Middle East.
