The Israeli occupation forces turned the occupied city of Jerusalem and its old town into a military barracks before Friday prayers, in conjunction with the escalation of the pace of its intense and violent bombardment on various areas of the Gaza Strip for the seventh day in a row.
The Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) reported that the occupation forces placed iron barricades at the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the gates of the Old City of occupied Jerusalem. It deployed hundreds of its forces around the city and its streets, searched citizens, checked their ID cards, and prevented a number of them from reaching Al-Aqsa Mosque.
For its part, the Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem confirmed that the Old City is completely besieged. The occupation allows only those over the age of 70 to access Al-Aqsa Mosque.
In the city of Ramallah in the West Bank, the Israeli occupation forces installed surveillance cameras near the Western Farm, northwest of the city. WAFA reported that the occupation forces set up cameras on electricity poles in the streets, as part of restrictions on citizens and monitoring their movements.
In the context of the dangerous escalation taking place in the occupied Palestinian territories, the Israeli occupation forces today launched a massive arrest campaign, targeting dozens of Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank.
Various parts of the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem witness daily raids and incursions into villages and towns by the Israeli occupation forces, accompanied by arrests and the firing of live and rubber bullets and gas bombs.
