A high-level delegation from Egypt's General Authority for Construction and Housing Co-operatives (CHC), led by major general, Waleed Farouk Elbaroudi, chairman of the Board of Directors, recently visited the Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (Gord) headquarters.
The primary objective was to explore collaboration opportunities with Gord in implementing sustainable solutions in Egypt.
CHC, an economic body affiliated with the Egyptian Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, plays a crucial role in establishing innovative partnerships between both local communities and the public and private sectors.
Leading Gord’s team in hosting the delegation was founding chairman Dr Yousef Mohamed Alhorr. He said: "The visit by the delegation from CHC is an important step which we believe will be foundational in fostering a partnership aimed at implementing sustainable solutions in Egypt and the wider Mena region."
Elbaroudi, noted: "Gord's commitment to sustainability, with GSAS, International Green Mark and carbon programmes is a remarkable initiative. Egypt can learn and collaborate for sustainable housing solutions. The visit showcased potential collaboration between CHC and Gord, with a focus on implementing GSAS in CHC. I look forward to a strong foundation for future partnerships in sustainable housing and urban development.”
During the visit, the delegation engaged in a series of discussions and presentations centred on sustainable development and potential co-operation between the two entities. One of the highlights was comprehensive presentations by senior members of Gord, who provided insights into Gord's activities, the Global Sustainability Assessment System, and its successful implementation in various districts, buildings, and infrastructure projects across Qatar as well as the Gulf region.
