Google launched a smart search feature on Google's Files application on Android.
The feature allows users to browse documents and pictures, as it also recognizes important files such as ID cards, passports, drivers' licenses and more, making it easier to find. Also, it can scan for specific information, such as passport number or ID number, so users can simply find or share it.
According to Google, the data is stored in the user's device, and does not send to its servers to preserve users' privacy.
The application stores important files in a special folder automatically, as well as allowing users to import files manually.
Users can try out the new feature by updating the Files application to the latest edition, as the company is working on allocating it to the rest of the user base.
As soon as smart search becomes available in the application, it can start working on scanning files and cataloguing it, as users will notice a new tab titled "Important" on the bottom of the screen once finished, alongside other sub-tabs.
More so, users will be shown a pop-up window to notify them of the availability of the new feature within the app.
