Building on the success of its role during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the Doha Metro is set to provide a reliable and eco-friendly mode of transportation to and from the Expo 2023 Doha.
The event, inaugurated Monday by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani at Al Bidda Park, will run for six months until March 28, 2024 and invites attendees to experience the efficiency and sustainability of the metro system.
In a post on its social media platforms, the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram announced: “Doha Metro Connects you to Expo!” Two key stations, Corniche and Al Bidda, serve as gateways to a number of Expo zones.
The announcement noted that the Corniche station will connect visitors to the International Zone while the Al Bidda station opens up avenues to the Cultural and Family zones.
The Al Bidda station, accessible via exit 2 on both the Red and Green Lines, as well as the Corniche station's exit 3 on the Red Line, ensure swift access to Al Bidda Park.
Besides the Expo 2023 Doha (Al Bidda and Corniche stations), several other must-see tourism destinations can be accessed by metro passengers who want to explore the city, including popular spots, malls, shopping centres, museums, and art, among others, via its vast network (Red, Green, and Gold lines).
Some of these places include the Souq Waqif, Msheireb Downtown Doha, Qatar National Library, National Museum of Qatar, City Center Doha, Place Vendome, Mall of Qatar, DECC, and Hamad International Airport.
