Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) is set to launch Thursday its 1st Annual Scientific Conference, bringing together experts and specialists from various medical and health institutions in the country.
The three-day event, titled “Updates on Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) at the Primary Health Care Level”, is supported by partners, including the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), Qatar Medical Association (QMA), and Qatar Family and Community Medicine Society.
The conference will be opened by QRCS president Yousef bin Ali al-Khater and board member, Medical Affairs Division director-general and conference chairman Dr Abdul Salam Ali al-Qahtani.
"The sessions will address the latest developments in the treatment of chronic diseases, or NCDs, including diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, thyroid disorders, and asthma. The objective is to explore the latest updates on how to manage and prevent such diseases from a primary health care perspective," a statement said.
The conference will also give the participants, across specialisations and levels, a great opportunity to learn, update information, gain experience, and spread awareness of how to treat patients with chronic diseases.
The participants attending in person will be eligible for 15.50 continuing professional development (CPD) credit hours. This will help them meet the licensing renewal requirements approved by MOPH’s Department of Healthcare Professions.
In a press statement, Dr al-Qahtani said: “Over three days, many consultants, experts, and specialists are gathering to present a variety of scientific sessions, which introduce the latest evidence-based practices in the management of chronic diseases. They focus on enhancing the role of individuals and families in promoting protection, thus supporting health care providers, towards a healthy community that can implement the construction and modernisation plans pursued by national health and development strategies.
“While seeking to ensure the regularity of this conference every year, we look forward to stronger partnerships among all components of the primary health care sector in Qatar. The ultimate goal is to establish a community where everyone enjoys health and wellbeing. Our health is the basis for building our future and the future of the coming generations”.
