Science India Forum Qatar recently conducted an orientation webinar for more than 300 students and guide teachers participating in the Qatar Children Science Congress (QCSC) 2023-24 programme.
During the opening session, SIF Qatar president Ravikumar Narayanan described QCSC as an ideal and innovative programme for children to inspire, empower and expand their minds to scientific research.
It carries the spirit and mandate of Education for Sustainable Development of Unesco.
The programme is catalysed and supported by the National Council for Science & Technology Communication, government of India.
Since 2015, SIF Qatar has been conducting QCSC, based on various theme and sub-themes. The theme for this year is 'Understanding Ecosystem for Health and Well-being'.
The webinar was conducted by Dr Jagdish Sharma, SIF advisor and former vice president who explained the focal and sub themes and guidance on project selection.
Dr Sharma emphasised that the guide teacher should help students generate an idea all by themselves and develop it further in the science project.
Students who missed the orientation programme can access the recording at www.sifq.org. The last date for online registration is September 30.
