MOEHE sets book fees, transport fares for non-Qatari students

HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali al-Jabr al-Nuaimi on Sunday issued ministerial decision determining the book fees and transportation fares for non-Qatari (GCC nationals) students.
The decision came in the context of the Ministry of Education's keenness to review educational policies and reduce the financial burdens on parents.
The decision set the transportation fee for each student at QR200 per semester, if they use school transportation, instead of QR1,000; a reduction of 78 %.
The decision kept the fees of textbooks for each student at QR150 per semester.
The decision also stipulated that the children of Imams and Muezzins of the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs be exempted from the book fees and transportation fares, and that exemption of the children of Qatari women and people with disabilities from the book fees and transportation fares shall continue.
The decision is implemented from the beginning of the school year 2023/2024. (QNA)
