His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani left Georgetown yesterday after a state visit to Guyana, heading to El Salvador on an official visit.
The Amir and the accompanying delegation were seen off at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport by Guyanese Prime Minister Mark Philips, Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce Onidge Waldron, Minister of Public Service Sonya Parag, acting charge d'affaires at the Qatari embassy Mohamed Ebrahim al-Rumaihi, Guyana's ambassador to Qatar Safraaz Ahmad Shadood, members of Qatar's diplomatic corps, and a number of senior officials.
Upon departure, His Highness the Amir sent cables to Guyanese President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali and Prime Minister Mark Philips, expressing his sincere thanks and appreciation for the warm welcome accorded to him and the accompanying delegation during the state visit.
The Amir expressed happiness at exchanging views on issues of common interest and ways to support and enhance friendly relations and co-operation between the two countries in various fields for the interest of the two peoples, wishing the president and the prime minister good health and wellness, and the friendly people of Guyana continued progress and prosperity.
The Amir was accompanied by an official delegation.
