His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani held a session of official talks with Chairman of Transitional Sovereign Council of The Sudan General Abdul Fattah al-Burhan at Lusail Palace on Thursday.
Developments of the situation in Sudan were discussed, where General al-Burhan briefed His Highness the Amir on the latest developments as well as the challenges faced by Sudan.
His Highness the Amir, during the talks session, reiterated the stance of Qatar calling for stopping the fighting in Sudan, and pursuing dialogue and peaceful ways to overcome differences. His Highness the Amir also expressed Qatar's hope for all Sudanese political forces to engage in broad negotiations after the permanent cessation of the armed conflict, to reach a comprehensive agreement and sustainable peace that fulfills the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people for stability, development and prosperity. His Highness the Amir praised, in this regard, the regional and international efforts and good offices aimed at ending the conflict and achieving stability in Sudan.
For his part, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council of Sudan expressed thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Amir for the stance of Qatar in supporting the government and people of Sudan, in a way that serves stability and development there.
The talks session also touched on ways to support and develop the existing fraternal relations between the two countries, in addition to regional and international developments.
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani attended the session of talks.
It was also attended by HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman al Thani, HE Head of the State Security Abdullah bin Mohammed al- Khulaifi, HE Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed al- Kuwari, HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Muhammad bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh al-Khulaifi, and a number of senior officials.
On the Sudanese side, the session was attended by Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Al Sadiq Ali, Director-General of the General Intelligence Service, Ahmed Ibrahim Mofaddal and members of the official delegation accompanying Gen al-Burhan.
His Highness the Amir and Gen al-Burhan earlier held a bilateral meeting in which they discussed key issues of common concern.
Chairman of Transitional Sovereign Council of The Sudan left Doha yesterday after a working visit to the country.
Gen al-Burhan and the accompanying delegation were seen off upon departure from Hamad International Airport by HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh al-Khulaifi, Qatar's Ambassador to Sudan Mohamed bin Ibrahim al-Sada and Sudanese Ambassador Ahmed Abdel-Rahman Mohamed Hassan Siwar al-Dahab. In a post on the Amir's official account on the X platform, His Highness the Amir expressed his happiness in welcoming his brother Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the sisterly Republic of the Sudan General Abdel Fattah al- Burhan, and holding talks that aim to promote the solid fraternal relations between the two countries in various fields. His Highness the Amir added that the talks renewed Qatar's consistent keenness to support the efforts aimed at ending the ongoing fighting in Sudan to preserve its unity, security, and stability.
