In co-operation between Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), Diwaniyat Al-Sabt, and Al Hazm, the Galleria Hall at Al Hazm hosted the opening of the third season of Diwaniyat Al-Sabt at a grand event in the presence of a number of Qatari women.
The annual event serves as a platform for Qatari women to meet and interact, offering constructive and fruitful cultural and social programmes, a statement said Tuesday.
During the gathering, the official announcement of the launch of the 'Nass Al-Nisai Team,' the first women's volunteer work team in Qatar, was made. The initiative aims to empower women in Qatar -- citizens and residents -- by training them on volunteer work mechanisms and developing their ability to interact and provide support in society. The initiative also seeks to enhance social participation, raise awareness of the needs of society, and actively contribute to its development.
The opening of 'Diwaniyat Al-Sabt' was hosted by Dr Maryam al-Owayesh from Kuwait, who gave a lecture entitled “They Want His Countenance.” She spoke about the importance of good company and delved into the concept of the noble verse “And keep yourself patient [by being] with those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening, seeking His countenance,” from Surat Al-Kahf and explained the context in which it came.
Commenting on the event, Al Maha Yousef al-Sheikh, founder of 'Diwaniyat Al-Sabt', said: ““Diwaniyat Al-Sabt has achieved great success over the past three years among young women in Qatar. We received more than 800 membership applications immediately after announcing the new season. We are excited to complete the success on this path and actively involve women in the various fields of volunteering in Qatar. Our priority now is to help every girl and woman achieve her own initiatives and aspirations and to develop the skills that qualify her for that.”
Mohammed al-Emadi, CEO of Al Emadi Enterprises and Al Hazm, said: "We are pleased to host this event in its third edition in Al Hazm, and we offer our full support to all awareness, educational, and charitable initiatives that aim to strengthen our Qatari society.
"The Diwaniyat Al-Sabt has proven to be a valuable platform in our community to connect, learn and grow. We believe in the power of volunteering and its role in strengthening our community. We look forward to this initiative having a positive impact on our path towards a better future.”
Mooza al-Kuwari, head of the Volunteering Department at QRCS, said: "We at the Qatar Red Crescent are proud of such voluntary community initiatives, which are an integral part of the volunteering and local development sector's strategy and its mission based on developing volunteer work and consolidating it in the Qatari society in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030".
"The launch of the "Nass Al-Nisai Team" represents an important turning point in supporting and empowering women in Qatar. We believe in the importance of volunteering and contributing to the improvement of our society, and we look forward to this women's initiative being a positive driving force in achieving this."
The Diwaniyat Al-Sabt, a weekly event organised in co-operation with the QRCS, and aims to enhance communication and interaction between women in the Qatari society. It provides a unique platform for exchanging ideas and promoting cultural guidance and social development.
