Toyota Motor Corporation announced on Wednesday that it has resumed production at most of its automotive assembly plants in Japan, after the system's failure led to the suspension of production at all 14 of its plants on Monday.
Accordig to Japan's News Agency (Kyodo), Toyota said that it hopes to resume production starting with 12 of the plants, and production at the remaining two plants is expected to resume in the evening.
Toyota reported that a defect in the vehicle parts processing system occurred yesterday and was not fully resolved, adding that a backup system had been activated.
The Japanese company continues to investigate the cause of the problem, while denying the possibility of a cyberattack.
In March last year, Toyota closed all of its local factories after the Japanese cutting supplier Kojima Industries Corp was hit by a system malfunction caused by a cyberattack.
