HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani met with Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong at The Istana presidential palace in the capital, Singapore, yesterday.
At the outset of the meeting, the Singaporean prime minister greeted HE Sheikh Mohamed and his accompanying delegation, wishing them a pleasant stay, and expressed his hope that the visit would contribute to strengthening bilateral relations between Qatar and Singapore.
In turn, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Prime Minister of Singapore for the warm reception and hospitality, pointing out that Qatar and Singapore possess several elements to consolidate the co-operation relations between the two countries and raise them to broader horizons, pointing to the importance of benefiting from the exchange of experiences between the two friendly countries and peoples.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on the key topics on the agenda of the 8th Session of the Joint Supreme Committee between Qatar and Singapore, in addition to discussing bilateral relations, and ways of developing and enhancing them in various fields, especially in the areas of trade, investment, education, social development, culture and tourism. The two sides also discussed the most important regional and international developments of common interest.
The meeting was attended by a number of ministers and high-ranking officials members of the official delegation accompanying HE Sheikh Mohamed and a number of ministers and senior officials on the Singaporean side.
The Singaporean prime minister hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and the accompanying delegation.
And as an expression of the depth of co-operation between Qatar and Singapore, the Singaporean Prime Minister gifted Qatar’s prime minister a Singaporean orchid, during the ceremony naming one of the famous types of flower bearing the names of a number of senior official guests after His Excellency.
