The President of the Jordanian Publishers Union and Director of the Amman International Book Fair Jabr Abu Fares announced that Qatar has been chosen as guest of honor of the 22nd Amman International Book Fair which will be held for ten days starting September 21.
In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Abu Fares said that Qatar will be present through a distinctive cultural program in line with the program of the exhibition. Adding that Qatar's cultural scene will be reflected in the exhibition and visitors will be given a glimpse of it.
He also noted the tight relations between Qatar and Jordan, especially in the field of publishing, as the two brotherly countries work jointly through the International Publishers Association (IPA) and the Arab Publishers Association (APA) in which Jordan holds several positions.
Abu Fares stated that the number of publishing houses participating in the exhibition will exceed 4,000 through the delegation of 22 countries and Jordanian institutions in the field of culture and publishing.
The Amman International Book Fair is the most prominent cultural event in Jordan in recent years in terms of the number of participating countries and visitors, which exceeds more than 150 thousand, he added.
The Director of the Amman International Book Fair underlined that the 2023 session will maintain the slogan "Jerusalem is the Capital of Palestine", confirming the firm position of the leadership and people of Jordan on the Arabization of Jerusalem and the Hashemite guardianship of its Islamic and Christian sanctities.
Abu Fares said to QNA that the importance of the exhibition stems from the Jordanian and Arab cultural scene and the role of promoting cultural exchange of experiences and knowledge between Jordan and Arab countries.
In past editions, the exhibition included various titles in various fields of science and knowledge for all ages, book signings with the participation of several Jordanian and Arab writers and novelists, daily programs and events, intellectual seminars and children story readings.
The exhibition will celebrate Jordanian Dr. Hind Abu Al Shaer, who was chosen as the personality of exhibition in recognition of her role in enriching the cultural and historical landscape of her country.
