Tehran: Qatar qualified for the quarter-finals of the 22nd Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship after defeating Thailand 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-22) on Wednesday.
The Qatari volleyball team will face either Iraq or Chinese Taipei on Thursday.
Qatar have exhibited stunning form throughout the tournament so far.
Qatar had qualified for the round of 12 after topping its group standing with a full score by beating India and Afghanistan 3-0 in earlier matches.
The 2023 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship is the 22nd staging of the Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship, a biennial international volleyball tournament organised by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation (IRIVF).
The tournament is currently held in Urmia, Iran from 19 to 26 August 2023.
The top three teams of the tournament qualify for the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship as the AVC representatives.
This is Iran’s fifth time serving as the host of the popoular event.
