Qatar Charity (QC) provided gas cylinders to 17,793 Rohingya refugees in Bhasan Char, an island in Bangladesh, and free healthcare services to 1,063 refugees in Cox's Bazar, a statement said Tuesday. This is part of QC’s ongoing humanitarian interventions for the benefit of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
Qatar Charity’s relief team, in co-ordination with the government authorities and UNHCR, distributed cooking gas cylinders while medical treatment was provided at the health care centre established by QC at Chakmarkul Camp-21 in Cox’s Bazar. The government officials of Bangladesh thanked Qatar Charity for implementing the projects to benefit the Rohingya refugees in the country. "We regularly receive support from Qatar Charity, which has a positive impact on our daily lives," Azizur Rahman, a beneficiary, stated.
Rumana Begum said, "During my pregnancy, I received medical consultations and treatment from Qatar Charity's health centre, which is a blessing for us as refugees.
QC, since the beginning of the Rohingya refugee crisis and their displacement to Bangladesh, continues to carry out various humanitarian interventions. This includes providing shelter materials, delivering urgent relief aid, offering healthcare services, and providing clean drinking water. A total of 231,966 refugees have benefited over the past two years.
More than 950,000 Rohingya refugees live in the camps of Cox’s Bazar. The authorities of Bangladesh relocated some refugees to Bhasan Char as part of a project to decongest the camps, the statement added.
