Qatari world high jump champion Mutaz Essa Barshim will compete in the high jump competition final in the nineteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships on Tuesday in Budapest.
Barshim qualified for the final after successfully jumping to a height of 2.28 in the semi-final round of the competition that brought together the strongest competitors in the high jump in the world, Barshim will compete in the final aiming to win the fourth consecutive gold medal after London 2017, Doha 2019 and Eugene 2022 editions.
Barshim has the best jump in the Diamond League and the second best jump in the history of the competition 2.43 which he recorded in 2014 in Brussels, two centimeters away from the record.
In statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE President of the Asian Athletics Association Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad, praised the Qatari world Olympic champion Mutaz Barshim and his distinguished sports behavior in defending his title in the high jump for three consecutive editions.
