Qatar Charity (QC) has opened new schools in rural areas of Ghana, benefiting several hundreds of students, as part of its ongoing campaign ‘Education Makes It Possible.’
The QC office in Ghana inaugurated four schools in a row during the past months, while the construction of two new schools was completed and they are now ready for inauguration.
Many students expressed their gratitude and appreciation to QC and the benevolent people of Qatar for putting an end to their suffering and creating an environment conducive for learning in a suitable and dignified atmosphere.
Sheikh Saleh Suleiman, the representative of the General Imam in the Dodowa district, praised the advanced standards with which QC builds its schools. He stated that the classrooms are equipped with all the necessary educational requirements in a manner that ensures a good academic achievement to secure a better life for the children.
Nesiba Baher, a teacher at one of the schools established by QC in Ghana, stated that the school she works at serves a very impoverished area. The school was established at the right time to address the large overcrowding of students. Nesiba also mentioned that some students who had left their studies in the old and ill-equipped schools have returned to continue their education in the modern schools built by QC.
The secretary-general of the Islamic Education Unit at the Ministry of Education in Ghana, Munir Taha, expressed his gratitude to QC for constructing dozens of schools that elevate the status of education and encourage students to learn.
He also highlighted the struggles of students in classrooms within schools having large numbers of students, even in the capital and major cities, where the number of students per classroom reaches around 90 students.
QC has constructed 23 schools since the opening of its office in Ghana in 2017. Additionally, work is underway to implement four new schools at a total cost of about QR4,992,598. The total number of beneficiaries has reached 4,710 male and female students. The schools established by QC in Ghana work in two shifts, morning and evening, to further expand the number of beneficiaries.
QC's ‘Education Makes it Possible’ campaign is expected to benefit around 100,000 students, both male and female, in 38 countries by covering the costs of school bags, school uniforms, and laptops, as well as tuition fees. Additionally, bicycles will be provided to students in Yemen, and scholarships offered to students in Djibouti and The Gambia. The campaign includes building, maintaining, and rehabilitating 66 elementary and secondary schools and vocational training centres.
Benefactors can donate to the ‘Education Makes it Possible’ campaign through QC’s website (qch.qa/edu), app (qch.qa/appen), branches and collectors available in malls and commercial centers, in addition to requesting for a “Home Collector” and dialing 44920000 to donate.
