The Public Foundation for the Cultural Village, Katara, has announced on its website, that it will present an educational event to train participants in the formation of letters in artistic painting.
It will be presented by the artist Bashar Ali, over a period of 12 days, from 9 September to 4 October, (September 9, 11, 13, 16, 18, 20, 23, 25, 27, 30 and 2, 4 October, 2023) at Katara Art Studios in Building 19. The programme targets adults from 17 years and above, and it will be presented in Arabic and English.
During the workshop, the trainees will be able to get acquainted with the Arabic language closely, as the Arabic letter inspired by modern art or plastic painting, and how the Arabic letter refers to works of art that dealt with the Arabic language; also as letters or texts, and transforming it into an artwork with “local” references, and a “civilized” identity.
The beginning of interest in the art of calligraphy and its origins goes back to the late forties, and many international artists chose Arabic letters to be the main element in their plastic works because of the expressive beauty they found in them. For further inquiries: [email protected]
