The selected volunteers from 50,000 applicants for Expo 2023 Doha will receive training that will help them discharge their multiple duties at Al Bidda Park. According to an official press statement from the organisers, a series of training sessions facilitated by an interactive training framework, combining direct and online training activities will be provided in addition to in-person workshops. All training and practical sessions will be conducted at the designated event venue.
The volunteering team have emphasised that the training sessions are an essential part of the programme, enabling volunteers to understand the magnitude of the event, the global contribution to sustainable development and the accompanying responsibilities entrusted to them.
A total of 2200 volunteers will work at Al Bidda Park while completing 45 shifts with one shift lasting 6-8 hours, depending on the role. Volunteers will perform various tasks to ensure the best experience for visitors, participants, and media. They will be placed with the diverse functions which run the event including visitor services, events and cultural experience, media and ceremonies in roles which the orgnaisers consider suitable for volunteers. They will be deployed at various segments of duty including accreditation, ceremonies, ticketing, events, cultural experience, health and safety, language services, media and broadcasting, and participants’ operations, protocol services, visitors experience and workforce.
Officials overseeing the volunteering programme within the exhibition's Organising Committee have emphasised the importance of the post-selection process. This phase is pivotal to the volunteers’ journey and will involve initiating introductory activities relevant to their roles.

Meanwhile, interviews with potential volunteers have commenced for the "Green Team" at the global exhibition and meticulous procedures are being executed to determine suitability. The Expo 2023 Doha event is scheduled to take place from 2 October 2023 to 28 March 2024.
During the interview phase, the team will carefully evaluate the potential volunteers and assign specific duties and responsibilities aligning with their areas of expertise and interests, ensuring that each volunteer can meaningfully contribute to the global event.
Several applicants expressed excitement to volunteer at the Expo 2023 Doha Horticultural Exhibition, stating: “We are excited to participate as volunteers in this global exhibition, as this will help us acquire many skills that will help us in the future to adapt to different work environments and perform our tasks with perfection, by working as individuals or as part as a team."
They added: "Volunteering at Expo 2023 Doha is also a great way to consolidate the concept of community service, as we will provide support and guidance to participants and influencers coming from many countries around the world."
