The Somali National Army's Commandos unit killed 25 people from Al-Shabaab movement linked to Al-Qaeda, during a joint military operation by the Somali army and international partners in Hiiraan region in the center of the country.
The Somali National News Agency (SONNA) quoted Wednesday a security source as saying that the military operation that was carried out Tuesday in Mukeyle area of Bula burte district in Hiiraan region, resulted in the killing of 25 militants, including a prominent leader, destruction of 4 car bombs, destruction 16 vehicles, including military vehicles.
For more than a decade, Somali forces have been fighting against Al-Shabaab movement, which has claimed many attacks that have claimed the lives of hundreds of civilians and security personnel.
