Organised by the Ministry of Culture in co-operation with the Mexican embassy in Qatar, the Mexican Cultural Week kicked off at Beit Al-Sulaiti Wednesday.
The opening ceremony featured folkloric performances, poems, traditional culinary arts, visual arts, and sculpture.
Director of the Department of Culture and Arts at the Ministry of Culture Maryam Yassin al-Hammadi said that the week-long activities will introduce Mexican arts, culture and heritage.
Culture goes hand in hand with international relations, and cultural relations have become an important part of cultural diplomacy and popular diplomacy to introduce the other, build bridges of dialogue and understanding, and nourish societies with the diversity of culture, she noted.
She added that there are more than 150 nationalities in Qatar that present their local and national culture and contribute to promoting the transfer of culture and the movement of artists between the countries of the world, with the aim of strengthening relations between states and peoples.
