The activities of the second week of Katara – the Culture Village Summer Camp started Sunday, witnessing a significant turnout and interaction from the participating children, with the number of participants amounting to 50 children.
For the second week, participating organisations in the camp, including the General Directorate of Civil Defence, Al Jazeera Media Institute, the Qatar Red Crescent Society, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf), the Nomas Centre, and the Shooting Club, will offer various training courses and awareness lectures, in addition to sports activities such as volleyball and beach football.
There will also be informative tours to Al Thuraya Planetarium, Al Gannas Qatari Society, and the Katara Traditional Dhow Museum.
The General Directorate of Civil Defence presented a training course on fire safety and accident prevention, which is one of the essential programmes at the camp, focusing on educating participants about the proper use of fire extinguishers and safe procedures in case of any unfortunate fire incidents.
The camp also featured a poetry session, where children recited poems in a unique and beautiful style.
Further, there was also a quiz session on general knowledge, presented by Aisha al-Idrisi, where the participants actively engaged and received symbolic gifts.
These entertaining and educational programmes were highly appreciated by the children, in addition to the shooting exercises provided by the Shooting Club.
Meanwhile, Jana al-Meslimani, producer at Al Jazeera Media Institute and one of its ambassadors, conducted a training workshop on video production, aiming to introduce the young participants to the world of video production and enhance their artistic and creative skills.
The workshop stressed the ethical considerations of content creation for various social media platforms, respecting privacy and avoiding blindly imitating others' content.
She expressed her delight in interacting with the children and wished them success, thanking Katara for this significant initiative and being a part of it.
The camp has been keen to maintain a variety of sports activities, including football and beach volleyball, to keep the participants engaged and active throughout the Katara Summer Camp.
The camp's activities take place every Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday of each week until August 15, in the southern part of Katara, from 10am to 7pm.
