Qatar welcomed the start of the removal of oil from the decaying FSO Safer tanker in the Red Sea. In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Qatar's appreciation for the efforts of the UN and international partners in addressing one of the most pressing environmental issues by preventing oil spillage from the tanker in the Red Sea. The ministry expressed Qatar's pride in its contribution to supporting the rescue operations co-ordinated by the UN to prevent the catastrophic spill and affirmed its full readiness to support all international efforts aimed at building a safer and more sustainable future for all.
