The Radiation Protection Department at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has carried out an inspection campaign on industrial facilities that house nuclear measuring devices.
The campaign aims to ensure their fitness for operation and correct calibration, in addition to collecting old, unused devices and sources to export them.
This initiative is part of the Radiation Protection Department's commitment to ensure the safety of all operating devices in the country, registered with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, and verifying their suitability for use. This effort contributes to environment protection and the safety of individuals working in this field. It also ensures radiation safety in Qatar, in compliance with Law No 31 of 2002 on Radiation Protection and its executive regulations.
The department stressed its ongoing efforts to strengthen radiation protection and to enforce the regulations governing the handling of radioactive materials and related devices. Further, it focuses on training workers in radiation-related fields, aiming to enhance their professionalism and expertise to promote a culture of radiation safety in Qatar and safeguarding public health and safety.
