The Court of Appeal has sentenced two expatriate men to prison and subsequent deportation for impersonating police officers and taking a sum of money from an Asian worker.
Local Arabic Arrayah reported that the two convicts impersonated police officers and searched a workers’ accommodation at the Industrial Area, claiming that they suspected the tenants of illicit drug possession.
Accordingly, they ordered the victims to stay outside the room and started to search room, damaging its contents.
They stole a sum of QR11,500 that was inside a bag in the room before leaving.
A third defendant waited for them outside in a vehicle ready to take them away.
The victims reported the theft to the police, who arrested the convicts.
The criminal court convicted and sentenced them to three years in jail and subsequent deportation.
Later, two of them appealed the verdict, and the Court of Appeal reduced the prison sentence to one year in jail and subsequent deportation.
