President of the Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA), President of the Arab and Asian Federations, First Vice President of the International Federation Khalil bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi said that he was happy with the closing event of the Asian Table Tennis Championship that was concluded at the Women's Sports Committee hall in Aspire Zone today, praising the great competition witnessed by all categories, whether in teams or in singles and doubles.
Talking to Qatar News Agency (QNA) Al Mohannadi noted the great participation in this tournament that exceeded 300 participants, including coaches, administrators and players. The Asian champions were keen to be present in order to qualify for the World Championship to be hosted by Slovenia in November, he said.
He added that the Qatari players have benefited greatly from this participation as they played against this group of distinguished players and world champions.
He stressed that the QTTA was able to prepare and organize the tournament in record time after Iraq was unable to host it, thanks to the working team that has a lot of capabilities and experience and made a great effort that contributed to the success of the tournament in the best way.
For his part, head of the national teams committee of the QTTA and a member of the Board of Directors Thani Al Zaraa said the continental competitions were marked by the emergence of many champions who will have a great importance during the World Youth Championship, noting that the Chinese team claimed most of the first places.
Speaking to QNA after the crowning ceremony, Al Zaraa said that strong levels were presented during the championship, through which many male and female players in various categories were able to qualify for the World Championship to be held in Slovenia this year.
He continued by saying that they have received great praise from all the heads of the federations, adding the amazing tournaments organized by Qatar always witness a huge presence from all officials in the world in light of the high quality of the organisation.
