Qatar Chamber will host the meeting of the General Assembly of the Board of Directors of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, scheduled to be held this December in Doha.
This was announced by Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani, who led the chamber’s delegation, which participated in the 35th meeting of the Islamic Chamber Board of Directors held recently in Azerbaijan.
The chamber’s delegation included board member Dr Mohamed bin Jawhar al-Mohamed and Ali Bu Sherbak al-Mansouri, the chamber’s assistant director general for Government Relations and Committees Affairs.
Sheikh Khalifa underscored the role of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in raising the level of trade co-operation among member states, stressing Qatar Chamber’s full support for the initiatives and efforts undertaken by the Islamic Chamber with the aim of supporting co-operation between the business sector in the member states and achieving economic integration and economic and social development.
During the meeting, it was decided to change the name of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture to ‘Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development’.
Also, opportunities and potentials for co-operation to promote economic growth and development were reviewed. On the sidelines of the meeting, a number of memorandums of understanding were signed to support the growth of small and medium enterprises and digital transformation.
The meeting also included an exhibition of traditional crafts in Azerbaijan, a presentation on the role of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce in microfinance and community development, as well as bilateral meetings between entrepreneurs, members of the Islamic Chamber Board of Directors, and several officials in Azerbaijan.
