Google is currently testing AI-generated backgrounds for its Meet video conferencing platform. This new feature allows users to change their video call backgrounds with AI-generated images.
According to Google's official website, this feature is currently being rolled out gradually and may not be available to all users yet. Users can request to join Google's Workspace Labs testing program to gain access.
To use this feature, users can click on 'Apply visual effects' in the bottom right of their preview video before joining a meeting then press 'Generate a background.' Then, they can type a prompt describing the type of background they would like and choose from a selection of categories.
Users will also have the flexibility of creating more samples if the ones generated are not satisfactory.
Google also added several new features to Google Meet, including the ability to make calls with high quality of up to 1,080 pixels, a new "picture-in-picture" mode, new tools for making video effects easier, and the 360-degree backgrounds feature that depends on the directional sensor that goes along with the user's movement, and others.
