Qatar is due to participate in an event on the sidelines of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in New York this week.
The event, under the theme "Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels", is being held under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council from July 17-19.
HE the Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed al-Kuwari will lead Qatar's delegation to the meeting which will discuss many important topics, the chief of which is building the momentum towards the sustainable development goals, along with the effective and inclusive recovery measures to address the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and explore actionable policy guidance for the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs at all levels.
The forum dedicates sessions to present the national voluntary reviews with the objective of accelerating the sustainable development plan 2030.
The forum is a key historical event for the sustainable development goals summit which is slated to be convened next September in New York under the auspices of the UN General Assembly and is set to identify the objective priorities and generate the political momentum for the summit.
