While continuing its progress, Qatar retained its first rank in the Mena region for the fifth consecutive year, on the Global Peace Index issued by the Institute of Economics and Peace, Australia. Headquartered in Sydney, the institute maintains global offices in New York, Brussels, Mexico City, The Hague and Harare.
In the 2023 report that covered 163 countries, Qatar ranked 21st globally, advancing its position from last year's 29th. The Global Peace Index ranked Qatar in the Societal Safety and Security Indicator first among the Arab world and ninth out of 163 countries, making Qatar one of the ten safest countries in the world.
According to Capt al-Khalifa, MoI launched and implemented various phases of the National Strategy from 2011 to 2022 and this strategy achieved its goals. While it comes to low crime rates, the best levels of security performance was achieved while combating crime and preserving lives and property.
