Qatar has affirmed that the recent opening of the UN House in Doha, which includes a number of offices and agencies of the UN, is an important step to enhance international multilateral co-operation by implementing programmes concerned with technical co-operation and capacity-building in many fields.
This came in a statement read out by Second Secretary at the Department of Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nasser Khamis al-Mansoori during the enhanced interactive dialogue on the report of the High Commissioner on technical co-operation and capacity-building, before the Human Rights Council's 53rd session.
Al-Mansoori stressed the importance of giving all human rights, whether political, civil, economic, social and cultural, and the right to development, the same level of interest when it comes to providing technical assistance and capacity-building, as part of having an objective dialogue and constructive co-operation, which takes into account consideration the requests and priorities of states.
He drew attention to Qatar's keenness to enhance its co-operation with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and support it to fulfil its mandate with regard to providing technical assistance and capacity-building, noting the continuation of its contributions to the Office of the High Commissioner for the implementation of a number of programmes, in the context of the work of the UN Training and Documentation Centre in Doha.
