Al Wakra Municipality Health Control Department carried out 6,777 field inspection tours on food establishments within the municipality during the first half of this year. These resulted in the issuance of 17 administrative closure decisions against non-compliant food facilities by the Director General of Al Wakra Municipality. Besides, 155 violation reports were issued in accordance with Law No 8 of 1990 regarding the regulation of human food control. Further, 108 related complaints were adequately addressed, and 168,229 kgs of desert truffles were examined at Al Wakra Central Market.
Further, the Health Control Department supervised the slaughtering of 111,299 heads of livestock, including sheep, cows, and camels, at the automated slaughterhouse at Al Wakra, where 2066 full carcasses were destroyed in addition to around 41,550 kgs of meat that were destroyed as well for not being fit for human consumption.
In the meantime, around 250,640 kgs of fish were examined at Al Wakra Fish Market. The total amount of distroyed food items unfit for human consumption amounted to 162,193 kilograms during this period, which included the amounts destroyed at Al Wakra Central Slaughterhouse, the fish market, and food violations' items.
