The Court of Appeal has upheld the ruling of a lower court ordering a joint venture of foreign contracting companies to pay a local trading and contracting company a sum of QR1,945,226 as dues.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that the local company filed a case against these foreign companies, demanding the dues and asked for a compensation of QR500,000 for the damages involved.
The accused foreign companies denied the claims indicating that they are only branches of the main companies which have headquarters outside Qatar.
However, the court established the claims stressing that even though these are only branches of the parent companies, they are completely liable to pay the due amount. Accordingly, the ruling was upheld by the Court of Appeal.
