The Panda House at Al Khor Park received during Eid al-Adha holidays about 5,000 visitors from different nationalities including large numbers of GCC visitors and families, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported.
Lolwa Mohamed al-Mohannadi, in charge of the Panda House at the Ministry of Municipality, explained that the daily visitor numbers were around 1,200 during the holidays.
She noted that the number of GCC visitors to the Panda house are constantly increasing since it opened last year. They also express their great admiration of the place and advise their friends and relatives to visit it whenever they can. Most Gulf visitors are from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait.
The Panda House has received as many as 115,000 visitors over the past seven months of its operation. The number of visitors considerably increases during weekends and holidays.
Qatar is considered the first country in the Middle East to have a Panda House and the 20th worldwide. The Panda House in Qatar is considered the largest worldwide with a unique design inspired from the natural habitats of the panda in China.
