Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has completed the Adahi Project 2023/1444 AH, under the slogan 'Humanity First: Your Sacrifice Brings Happiness'.
Sacrificial meat of lambs, goats, and cows were distributed to approximately 60,000 beneficiaries in Qatar and 18 countries affected by poverty, conflict, and natural disasters.
In cooperation with Widam Food Co., QRCS volunteers and social care professionals implemented the Adahi Project in Qatar. Many vulnerable families received Qurbani meat provisions at Al-Wakra and Umm Salal Central Slaughterhouses during the third and fourth days of Eid-al-Adha, as a contribution to promote social solidarity and help people perform the blessed Qurbani ritual.
Internationally, QRCS worked with Islamic Relief Worldwide, sister National Societies, and local authorities in the host countries to secure, slaughter, package, and distribute Qurbani meat provisions to the most vulnerable beneficiaries, as follows: 700 families (3,500 people) at camps of internally displaced people (IDPs) in northern Syria; 1,509 poor families in Gaza; 240 families (1,200 Syrian refugees and locals) in Amman and Zarqa, Jordan; 300 families (1,200 beneficiaries) in Elbasan and Librazhd, Albania; 2,000 families (14,000 people) at IDP camps in Banadir, Somalia; 325 families (1,625 Iraqi IDPs, Syrian refugees, and locals) in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan; 3,078 people in Niamey, Niger; 1,645 families (6,580 people) in Kurigram and 5,500 families (27,500 people) at refugee camps of Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh; 2,000 families (12,000 beneficiaries) in Bamako and Koulikoro, Mali; 867 families (6,069 beneficiaries) in Kabul, Afghanistan; 1,750 beneficiaries in Nepal; 3,400 beneficiaries in Sri Lanka; 500 beneficiaries in Kosovo, 600 families (4,200 beneficiaries) across Aden, Yemen; 15,000 people in Kenya; and 1,512 families (9,072 beneficiaries) in Al-Rahad and Al-Obeid, Sudan.
At the same time, QRCS implemented the Eid Clothing Project during Eid-ul-Adha, through its headquarters in Qatar and representation offices in Yemen, Turkey (Syria), Gaza, and Jordan, with the aim of bringing happiness to the hearts of poor children.
In Gaza, QRCS’s office collaborated with Palestine Red Crescent Society and the Ministry of Social Development in Gaza to distribute new clothes to more than 2,500 children aged 6-12, at a total cost of QR 364,500. In northern Syria, QRCS’s office in Turkey distributed e-coupons to 710 families at IDP camps, to buy new clothes for their children and feel the joy of Eid-al-Adha. QRCS’s office in Yemen distributed Eid-ul-Adha clothes to children, in cooperation with Yemen Red Crescent Society.
