The Qatar national football team headed to Phoenix, Arizona, in the United States, in preparation to face off Honduras national team at the State Farm Stadium on June 29, as part of Group B's 2nd round of matches in the group stage of the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup hosted by the US and Canada, from June 24 - 16 July.
In its Group B opening match, the Qatari team lost on Sunday night against its counterpart from Haiti by a score of 1-2 at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
This was the first official encounter between the two nations, as Qatar was back for its second appearance against a tournament regular in Haiti, who was making a third consecutive participation.
Following its match against Honduras, the Qatari national team will face the Mexican national team at the end of the group stage at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on July 2.
The Mexican national team leads the Group B standings with 3 points, after having defeated Honduras in the first round by 4-0. The Haiti national team ranks second also with 3 points, yet with a goal difference to the advantage of Mexico, whilst the Qatari national team comes third, and the Honduras national team ranking fourth with no points.
Under the cooperation agreement with the Qatar Football Association, CONCACAF invited the Qatari national team to participate as a guest of honour.
