Qatar secured third position at the 23rd Arab Athletics Championships with five gold and three silver medals in Marrakesh, Morocco. More than 350 athletes representing 16 countries participated in the region’s premier track and field event that concluded on Sunday. Sprinter Femi Ogunode was the standout performer for Al Annabi as he clinched gold medals in 100m and 200m races. Ashraf Hussein, Saif Abdel Salam and Bassem Abdel Salam were the other gold medal winning athletes. Qatar won silver medal in the 4x100m relay along with Tariq Hamdi al-Amin (high jump) and Moaz Ibrahim (discus throw). Morocco topped medals standing with 17 gold, 25 silver and 14 bronze while Egypt came second after winning 10 gold, five silver and as many bronze medals. Tunisia wrapped up their campaign on the fourth position with four gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
