Qatar Foundation (QF)'s QatarDebate launched Sunday a workshop for affiliates of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Diplomatic Institute.
QatarDebate Coach Thaer Farahat led the workshop that brought together 24 participants.
Entitled 'leadership of dialogue, public speaking and debating skills', the five-day event is part of the Diplomatic Institute's plans to hold training workshops to develop talents and capacities in a way that reflects the vision of a comprehensive diplomat who can best represent the State of Qatar in international forums.
The Diplomatic Institute's Maryam Al Mohannadi, a researcher on administrative development, hailed the compatibility in visions and goals between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the QatarDebate to qualify and give its affiliates the necessary diplomatic skills to perform, especially those of dialogue management, persuasion, public speaking, rhetoric and debate.
She said that the most important ways to develop diplomatic speaking skills start with improving public speaking, controlling tension, confidence and clear communication. She added that debating is essential to improve the skills of persuasion and building influence and developing effective verbal and non-verbal communication such as body language and facial expressions.
Al Mohannadi hailed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' cooperation with QatarDebate as highly important to achieve the Diplomatic Institute's goals and mission to improve the diplomatic performance.
The workshop presented and applied proposals that contribute to building a diplomatic figure in line with the State of Qatar's foreign policy.
