The State of Qatar participated Sunday in the Olympics World Summer Games' heads of delegations meeting after the games' conclusion in the German capital Berlin, with the participation of 7,000 players from 170 countries.
At the meeting, the State of Qatar was represented by Assistant-Secretary of the Qatar Sports Federation for Special Needs and a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation Abdul Qadir Al Mutawa.
The meeting was also attended by the Regional President of Special Olympics for Middle East and North Africa Ayman Abdel Wahab who expressed his overwhelming happiness with the medal haul in the Special Olympics World Summer Games, praising the wonderful technical levels demonstrated and talked about many important issues. He also announced that he will soon visit a number of countries in the region and meet with their sports ministers.
Qatar's team won three medals, two silver, and a bronze during its participation in the tournament. Mubarak Al Ahbabi won silver in the 300 metres skating competition, while Shuaa Al Abdullah won bronze in the same category. Hamad Al Ahbabi won silver in the 30m straight skating competition and athlete Mohammed Al Mahmoud placed fifth in the 200m sprint.
The Qatari team was represented in the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Berlin with five players that competed in roller skating, athletics, and weightlifting. Mubarak Al Ahbabi and Shuaa Al Abdullah participated in the 100 and 300 metres skating competitions while Hamad Al Ahbabi participated in the 30m straight skating competition and 30m slalom skating competition. Athlete Jassim Fakhroo competed in the 100m sprint and the long jump, while Mohammed Al Mahmoud will be competing in the push-button and 200m sprint, and Hamad Jaber competed in weightlifting.
