The Ministry of Interior (MoI) Sunday announced that appeal against the results of the election of members of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) is open as of Sunday, until Thursday, July 13.
In accordance with the provisions of Decree No. (17) of 1998 regulating the elections of the Central Municipal Council and announcing the results of the electoral process, the Ministry of Interior informs candidates and voters that the door to appeal against the results of the election of the Council's members is open," the MoI said in a statement on Sunday.
Each candidate or voter has the right to request the annulment of the election of the elected member in his constituency, and to file an appeal request on the form prepared for that, provided that it includes the reasons on which this appeal was based, the Ministry explained.
The appeal shall be handed over to the Elections Department during official working hours, to be submitted to the Chairman of the Appeals and Grievances Committee, according to the statement.
The Appeals and Grievances Committee will investigate the appeals, prepare a report of its opinion and recommendations, and submit it to the Central Municipal Council for a final decision.
The elections of the 7th session of the Central Municipal Council took place last Thursday. A total of 102 candidates competed in the elections, and the results were announced on the same day.
