The Indian Institute of Quantity Surveyors - Qatar Chapter (IIQS-Qatar) recently hosted a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) event on pressing issues affecting the environment.
Hemanth Nandanpawar, an expert from the Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (Gord), discussed global warming, carbon emissions, climate change, and sustainable actions in the region and in Qatar during the event.
More than 40 members of IIQS-Qatar attended the event to enhance their professional excellence, knowledge, and skills in the field of quantity surveying. Among the participants were representatives of various organisations, including construction companies, consulting firms, and government agencies.
Nandanpawar’s presentation focused on ‘Integrating Climate Action & Sustainable Practices in Construction - Insight for Quantity Surveyors’. He also discussed various aspects related to carbon emissions, Gord’s commitment to sustainability and climate change in light of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Abdul Basith, IIQS-Qatar public relations manager, welcomed the attendees and stressed the importance of CPD events for professional development.
During the event, Kiran Kumar Podakanti, IIQS-Qatar president, introduced the newly-formed committee members for the term 2023-2024 and elaborated on IIQS-Qatar and its objectives, as well as various services and activities it offers to its members.
“Continuous learning and development are essential for the success of quantity surveyors,” he stressed.
Podakanti also presented a token of appreciation to Nandanpawar after concluding his presentation, which was followed by a Q&A session.
Dayanidhi Dhandapany, IIQS-Qatar vice-president, thanked Nandanpawar for delivering the presentation, which was also attended by Manash Kaushik, general secretary; Avinash R Gaikwad, joint secretary; Venkat, vice-president finance; Ganesh and Aadith, membership managers; Saravanan and Shameena, CPD committee vice-presidents; Rahul, sports and recreation manager; and Avinash A Gaikwad, head of advisory panel.
