The Doha Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) recently organised a seminar on ‘IFRS Updates and Action for Corporates’.
During the opening ceremony, Vignesh Kalyanaraman addressed the more than 100 participants comprising finance professionals from leading organisations and students attending the event.
Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, ICAI vice-president, addressed the audience virtually and congratulated the Doha chapter for organising an event on IFRS.
Vijay Kumar shared his thoughts on IFRS standards-setting process, which provides a better understanding of the robust process, which makes standards qualitatively superior.
Robert Uhl, IASB member, provided insights on the various aspects of IFRS, such as updates on the current work plan, standard-setting and maintenance projects, research projects and pipeline, supporting the consistent application of IFRS accounting standards and the work of the IFRS Interpretations Committee and ISSB work, and connectivity between IASB and ISSB.
He also discussed the recently issued amendments and shared the plan for forthcoming amendments, as well as helpful materials and resources that are also available on the IFRS website.
Foo Yoke Pin, project director, MFRS Implementation Activities, discussed his contribution, especially on IAS 2 Inventories and IFRS 15 revenue from contracts with customers.
