Aamal Company QPSC, one of the region’s leading diversified companies, on Monday announced the launch of its upcoming event ‘Aamal Ride’ as part of its corporate social responsibility in co-operation with Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation (QCTF).
The ‘Aamal Ride’ will be held on November 17, it was confirmed yesterday at a press conference headlined by Rashid bin Ali Mansouri, CEO of Aamal Company QPSC, and Dr Mohamed bin Jaham al-Kuwari, President of QCTF.
The aim of this initiative is to encourage the community’s participation in sports activities, Mansouri said.
“‘Aamal Ride’ is part of Aamal’s CSR and ongoing commitment to improving people’s well being and encouraging them to adopt a healthy lifestyle. At Aamal, we believe in the power of sports to make a positive impact both physically and mentally,” Mansouri said.
“In launching ‘Aamal Ride’ we want to encourage our employees and the wider public to embrace sports as part of their lifestyle, and to regularly participate in public sports activities. I strongly encourage all nationals and residents to take part in this exciting event, which is only one of a series of Aamal initiatives aimed at benefitting the community,” he added.
In turn, Dr al-Kuwari, President of QCTF, expressed gratitude for Aamal Company’s support and contribution to local development through sports, particularly in the realm of cycling.
“There’s no better sports than cycling. People of all ages can take part in cycling events. Whether you are a five-year-old or a 70-year-old, cycling is for everyone,” al-Kuwari said. “You don’t need special efforts to feature in a cycling event. Cycling is for everyone,” he added.
“You will see cycling holds a vital position in the federation’s comprehensive commitment, working in co-operation with various entities in Qatar to promote cycling and integrate it into the daily lives of individuals,” he said.
“You go around the country and there are long cycling tracks. People have taken to cycling and we are thrilled about the popularity of the sport,” he added.
Dr al-Kuwari also emphasised the significance of fostering partnerships between private sector companies and the federation to promote cycling.
“The Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation eagerly anticipates further collaboration with Aamal and other private sector entities in their shared efforts to realise the federation’s vision for sports,” he said.
Thani al-Zarraa, Secretary-General at QCTF, said: “We are looking forward to this event. We shall announce more details in the coming days and weeks. The registration details will also be shared in due course of time. The QCTF is ready to provide every kind of technical assistance in making this event a huge success.”
He added: “The countdown to this new event is on. We are confident that a huge number of participants will be seen in action when we move closer to our new cycling event.”
