Qatar Career Development Centre (QCDC), founded by Qatar Foundation (QF), concluded the fifth edition of the highly acclaimed 'My Career - My Future' programme, following its success in attracting 90 high-school students in Qatar who gained valuable hands-on experience in 13 organisations.
The programme's concluding day was marked by a closing ceremony, during which participating students were honoured and celebrated in the presence of the QCDC leadership and representatives from the programme's partner organisations. Concurrently, a university fair was held to familiarise students with the academic programmes, degrees offered by universities in Qatar, application requirements and admission criteria.
Abdullah al-Mansoori, director of QCDC, emphasised the programme's successful outcomes in developing students' skills, noting that 'My Career - My Future' has been instrumental in equipping students with practical expertise and industry-specific knowledge. Through immersive job shadowing experiences in various sectors, students have gained a profound understanding of the demands and intricacies of different professions, he noted.
"This programme has effectively bridged the gap between academic learning and real-world application, empowering students to make informed decisions about their academic and career paths. We are proud to witness the growth and capabilities these young individuals have acquired, and we remain committed to providing them with the necessary resources to excel in their chosen fields," al-Mansoori concluded.
Participating students also expressed the extent of their benefit from the 'My Career - My Future' programme. In this regard, student Sarah Naama al-Naama said: "Participating in 'My Career - My Future' has been a transformative, eye-opening and enriching experience. I had the privilege to shadow professionals in the field of medicine, which has solidified my aspiration to pursue a career in healthcare. This programme has assured me of how this sector is uniquely aligned with my personal skills and values, and I am grateful to QCDC for providing me with the opportunity to explore my passion in a real work environment. I am confident that this experience has reinforced my decision to major in medical education."
The programme provided students with a full week of opportunities to experience real work environments in various sectors within the country, explore multiple potential career paths, and crystallise their professional aspirations. Additionally, it empowered them to make informed decisions regarding their academic and professional futures.
The programme engaged a number of leading organisations in Qatar, including Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar Airways, Amlak Holding Corporation, Public Works Authority (Ashghal), Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa), Katara Cultural Village, Qatar University, Vodafone Qatar, Qatar Tourism, Commercial Bank, Nama - Social Development Centre, and Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance Company.
