The Qatar Philatelic and Numismatic Stamp Centre has organised a symposium under the title of 'Coins and stamps' role in promoting identity and documenting historical events, at the 32nd Doha International Book Fair (DIBF).
The symposium addressed the history of stamps in Qatar, along with stamps of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
In a statement to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), director Hussain Rajab al-Ismail said that the centre is participating in the fair with a pavilion showcasing a collection of stamps that were printed to mark Qatar 2022, along with special gifts such as medals.
He said that the symposium also showcases services offered by Qatar Post, as well as the engagement of youth fans in international contests that are pertinent to philatelic and numismatic stamps, with an emphasis on events that Qatar had won during its participation.
Stamps expert Mustafa Waddah al-Khatib spoke about the history of stamps in Qatar, adding that that the country is in possession of enormous collections of rare global stamps.
