Qatar sports fraternity on Saturday mourned the passing away of football coach Captain Saeed bin Saad al-Misnad.
Al-Misnad, who is best remembered for guiding Qatar to a creditable sixth place at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in 1999, succumbed to illness, the Qatar News Agency (QNA) said.
Qatar Olympic Committee President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani tweeted: “With the departure of Captain Saeed bin Saad al-Misnad National football has lost one of the brilliant names and competencies in the field of coaching. May Allah have mercy on him, wide mercy, our condolences to his honourable family, asking Allah to accept him and inspire them patience and reward.”
Qatar Football Association President Jassim bin Rashid al-Buainain also hailed his services for national football while praying for the departed soul.
