Qatar Charity has launched a new convoy of food aid to support people affected by the conflict in Sudan and displaced to Al Jazirah State, in co-operation with the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), as part of medical and food aid for those affected by the war in the states of Khartoum, Red Sea, Al Jazirah, and Northern State.
The convoy of 35 tonnes of food aid will be distributed over 1,000 food baskets, with each basket containing 12 items of basic and necessary supplies for the beneficiaries.
The convoy was received by Fateh al-Rahman Mohamed Taha, the general director of the Ministry of Social Welfare in Al Jazirah State and the minister in charge, who praised the continuous relief efforts of Qatar, noting the aid provided by Qatar Charity and the QFFD in times of calamities and disasters.
He said Al Jazirah State, by virtue of its proximity to Khartoum State, was the destination for many residents of Khartoum. Taha added that the refugee numbers has now exceeded the population of the state.
