HE the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) Ghanem bin Shaheen al-Ghanem will head the Qatari Haj Mission this year.
HE the Minister, according to an official press statement from Awqaf, on Thursday issued an administrative decision to form the Haj Mission for Haj 2023.
The decree stipulates the appointment of Ali Sultan al-Musaifari as vice president while representatives from the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and Awqaf will be part of the mission. Also, the decree has stipulated forming an advisory committee and supporting units to serve the pilgrims from Qatar.
Awqaf annually forms the Qatari Haj Mission with a head, vice president, advisory committee and legal expert. The mission also has its units of Sharia, medical, control and inspection, public relations, secretarial, information systems and coordination and follow-up. Also, the mission consists of an airport unit along with finance, communication and support units. These are in addition to the logistics and sentiments unit. The mission is also accompanied by a media team representing Qatar News Agency (QNA), Qatar TV, Al-Rayyan TV and Qatar Radio.
The mission will serve the pilgrims from Qatar while ensuring their comfort following up on their daily requirements, as well as ensuring their safety and security in cooperation and coordination with the competent authorities in Saudi Arabia. To achieve the mission’s objectives it holds annual Haj conferences, seminars and meetings with the aim of receiving all new updates to serve the pilgrims and supervising the Haj operators while ensuring they function as per the contracts in terms of providing means of care and safety for pilgrims.
